Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952, is a famous American stage acting, film and television actress. McDonnell was awarded an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also well-known for her role as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica, the President's wife in Independence Day and for her prominent part in Donnie Darko, as the main protagonist's mother.
